Privacy Policy

The short version: Pickled analyzes your games on your iPhone. Your video, your highlight clips, and your stats stay on your device. Pickled has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of its own. The app never uploads anything. The only way data leaves your device is when you choose to share it.

Information We Collect

Pickled is designed so that we collect as little as possible. In normal use, that means nothing at all. The app does not require an account and never asks for your name, email address, phone number, or location. We operate no servers, and the app contains no analytics or advertising software.

The app works with the following information, all of it on your device:

Camera: with your permission, the camera is used to watch your game while a live session is running. Live sessions are recorded temporarily so highlight clips can be cut; the full session recording is deleted automatically once your clips are created, whether or not any clips were produced.
Video you import: clips you choose through the iOS photo picker. The picker is designed by Apple so that Pickled only ever receives the specific video you select, not access to your photo library.
Session data: rally statistics, highlight clips, bounce calls, court calibration, your manual scoreboard, and technical performance measurements (such as frame rate and device thermal state) generated while the app runs.

How We Use Information

Everything above is used for one purpose: providing the app's features to you: analyzing gameplay, cutting highlight clips, keeping rally statistics, and offering a second opinion on close moments. Because this data never reaches us, we cannot use it for anything else: not advertising, not profiling, not training AI models, not sale to anyone.

If you email support (including the optional diagnostics report described below), we use the contents of your email to help you.

Video and Game Data

Game analysis happens entirely on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device machine learning. Video you record or import, the clips Pickled creates, and your session statistics are stored on your device and are never uploaded by the app.

Sharing is always yours to initiate. When you share a highlight clip, it goes through the standard iOS share sheet to the app you choose. After a live session, Pickled may offer to send a diagnostics report to support. Sending is optional every time, the report is composed in your own mail app where you can read exactly what it contains before sending, and it consists of technical measurements only: frame rate, thermal state, tracking and calibration quality figures, rally counts, and app/device version information. It never includes video, photos, names, precise location, advertising identifiers, or file paths.

Data Storage and Security

Data the app creates is stored in the app's private container on your device, protected by iOS sandboxing and your device's own security (passcode, Face ID, and encryption at rest). Because there is no Pickled server and no account, there is no server-side copy of your data to breach.

Third-Party Services

The Pickled app includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. It uses Apple's frameworks (such as the camera, photo picker, and on-device machine learning) which run locally on your iPhone. If you download Pickled from the App Store, Apple processes your download and any payment under Apple's privacy policy.

This website is a static site with no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking. It loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers when you visit; Google may log standard request data such as your IP address (see Google's privacy policy). The site sets no cookies and runs no trackers of its own.

Data Retention

Because your data lives on your device, retention is under your control. Session history, highlight clips, and settings remain until you delete them in the app or delete the app itself; deleting the app removes everything. Temporary session recordings are deleted automatically as soon as highlight clips have been cut. If you email support, we keep the correspondence only as long as needed to help you, then delete it on request.

Your Choices

Camera access can be declined or revoked anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Live sessions will be unavailable, but analyzing imported video still works.
Highlight clips and session history can be deleted in the app at any time.
Diagnostics reports are never sent automatically. You can decline every time, or choose "Don't show this again" and never be asked.
Everything at once: deleting the app deletes all data it ever created.

Children's Privacy

Pickled is a general-audience app: pickleball is played by all ages, and teens are welcome to use Pickled to review their games. The app is not directed at children under 13, and because Pickled collects no personal information from any user, child or adult, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Video a family records stays on the family's own device, under the device owner's control.

Changes to This Policy

If Pickled's privacy practices ever change, for example if a future version adds an online feature, this policy will be updated here with a new effective date before the change takes effect, and the app's App Store privacy details will be updated to match. The promise behind this policy is simple to check: the current app contains no networking capability at all.
